Did you know how to keep your electronics clean??

How to Properly Clean All Your Gadgets Without Ruining Them

No matter how clean a house you keep, your computers and gadgets are bound to get a little dirty here and there. Here's what you need to clean them, and how to do it without hurting them.
Your gadgets aren't as resilient as they might seem, and just spraying Windex on everything and rubbing it down with a paper towel can cause all sorts of damage to a device. However, they are remarkably easy to clean as long as you do it right—and you can do most of it with just a few simple household items (or at the very least, a trip to CVS). Here's how to do it.

Clean Your Monitor With White Vinegar

How to Properly Clean All Your Gadgets Without Ruining ThemLCD screens are pretty delicate, and you don't want to press hard on them, because that can burn out the pixels. Instead, turn your monitor off (so you can better see the dirty spots), and grab a dry microfiber cloth. Many monitors and other gadgets come with one. From there, just gently wipe the screen. If you have a more hearty build-up of spots or gunk, resist the urge to press hard and wet the cloth with a 50-50 mix of water and white vinegar. You can use a special monitor cleaner if you desire, but the vinegar/water mix should work just fine. If you can, though, use distilled water instead of tap water, as tap water is likely to leave white spots on your screen from salt or other deposits.
Remember, as you're doing this, that you want to use a soft cloth, preferably microfiber. Do not use anything paper-based, like paper towel, Kleenex, or toilet paper, since it can scratch up your monitor. Also remember never to spray any liquid on the monitor itself—always spray it on your cloth first.

Clean Your Keyboard with Compressed Air and Rubbing Alcohol

How to Properly Clean All Your Gadgets Without Ruining ThemWe've mentioned this before, but our friends over at the How-To Geek have a great rundown on how to deep clean your keyboard. If your keyboard is only mildly dirty, you should be able to get by with two things: blowing some compressed air in between the keys (to blow out dust) and cleaning dirty keys with a swab of rubbing alcohol to remove oil, grime, and germs. Alternatively, we've become very big fans of the Mr. Clean Magic eraser, and it'll do wonders for a grimy keyboard, especially if it's noticeably oily. If your keyboard's rather disgusting, though, you might have to pop out the keys and really dig in with a toothbrush. Check out their full guide for more info on how to do that.
Also, don't forget to turn your keyboard off (if it's wireless) or unplug it (if it's wired) before you start cleaning. If you're just giving it a quick wipe-down, though, and don't want to get behind your tower, you can use an app like previously mentioned ToddlerTrap (Windows) previously mentioned Keyboard Cleaner (Mac) to turn it off while you touch it up.

Clean Your Mouse with a Bit of Water or Alcohol

How to Properly Clean All Your Gadgets Without Ruining ThemWith the exception of old-school mice or the Apple Mighty Mouse, most mice shouldn't need to be opened up to be cleaned. Generally, you can just turn it over and take a cotton swab to the rubber pads, wetting it with water or alcohol if necessary. For the mouse buttons, you should be able to clean it in much the same way you did the keyboard—use some alcohol on a cotton swab to rub away dirt and grime. If you absolutely have to, you can look up a guide to taking apart your mouse, but know that this probably voids your warranty and shouldn't be necessary in most cases. Also, remember to turn off or unplug your mouse before cleaning.

Clean Your Laptop Body with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser

If you have some non-acetone nail polish remover around, it's been known to clean up laptops (especially lightly-colored ones, like MacBooks) quite well, but nothing works quite as well as the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. Get it wet, wring out as much water as you can, and lightly rub it over your trackpad, keyboard, and laptop body. It should clean them up, remove any grease from your fingers, and give it that new, fresh-from-the-store look. Don't press down too hard, since the Magic Eraser has a tendency to "shed" when rubbed hard, which will just dirty your computer up more. If your computer's grimier than that, clean your keyboard with an alcohol-soaked swap as described above in the keyboard section.

Clean Your Touch Screen Gadgets with Water and Vinegar

How to Properly Clean All Your Gadgets Without Ruining ThemLike your monitor, the best cleaner for a touch screen device is a 50/50 mix of distilled water and vinegar. That said, touch screens are a bit more resilient than LCD monitors, due to the fact that they're meant to be touched, so you can press a bit harder if you have a particularly stubborn spot (don't go overboard, though). Just like everything else, use a microfiber cloth and spray the cloth with a small amount of liquid, not the screen, before wiping it down. The last thing you need is to get your phone wet, void your warranty, and break something important (like the charging socket). Also, if your smartphone is filled with dust, dirt, and other disgusting sediment, you may have to open it up and give it a deeper clean, a process that our friends at the How-To Geek have gone through in detail.

Why you should love Pomegranates!!!

13 Reasons to Love Pomegranates

Pomegranates offer more than just incredible taste—they are nutritional and healing powerhouses. Here are 13 reasons to start eating pomegranates or drinking their juice if you aren’t already:

1. Anti-aging effects: Pomegranates contain plentiful amounts of antioxidants. They rate high on the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s ORAC scale (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity)—a measure of how well free radicals are absorbed. Pomegranate juice measures 2860 on this scale.

2. Kidney protection: New research published just days ago in the journal Renal Failure showed that an extract of pomegranate prevented kidney damage and protected the kidneys against harmful toxins.

3. Liver protection and regeneration: More new research published in the journal Toxicology and Industrial Health showed that pomegranate juice not only protects the liver, it helps it to regenerate after it has been damage.

4. Immune-boosting: Pomegranates and pomegranate juice are packed with immune-boosting vitamin C—an essential and quickly depleted nutrient at this time of year.

5. Anti-allergic: Pomegranates are high in substances called polyphenols which have been shown to reduce the biochemical processes that are linked with allergies.

6. Protects against heart disease: New research published in the journal Atherosclerosis shows that pomegranate improves the body’s ability to synthesize cholesterol and destroy free radicals in the vascular system.

7. Prostate-cancer protection: Research conducted at the University of California, Riverside, and published in the journal Translational Oncology indicates that pomegranate juice and pomegranate extracts caused cancer cell death.

8. Breast-cancer protection: Scientists at the University of California, Riverside, also studied the effects of pomegranate juice and its nutritional components: luteolin, ellagic acid, and punicic acid against breast cancer. They pubished their results in the journal Breast Cancer Research and Treatment and concluded that pomegranate juice and its extracts “are potentially a very effective treatment to prevent cancer progression…”

9. Skin-cancer protection: Consumption of pomegranate was associated with a decrease in both main types of skin cancer—basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, according to new research in the British Journal of Dermatology.

10. DNA-protection: The antioxidants and/or phytonutrients in pomegranates also appear to interact with the body’s genetic material for protection.

11. Blood pressure normalizing: Early research published in the journal Plant Foods for Human Nutrition found that pomegranate extract may help prevent blood pressure increases associated with eating high fat meals.

12. Metabolic syndrome regulating: Research published in the journal Food and Function shows that pomegranate helps regulate blood sugar, improves the body’s sensitivity to insulin, decreases inflammation, and improves numerous other factors involved in metabolic syndrome—frequently implicated in obesity and often a precursor to diabetes. Because of these effects, pomegranate may aid weight loss.

13. Anti-infectious: New research published in the journal Food and Chemical Toxicology found that an extract of pomegranate increased the effectiveness of a drug used against gram-negative bacteria. Many gram-negative bacteria are known for drug resistance.

How you calculate dimensional weight of a box!!

We all know that oversized packages are going to cost more to ship. The trick is knowing how much the size of your parcel is going to drive up the shipping costs.
Most parcel shipping software programs will automatically calculate dimensional weight for you when you enter the dimensions of the package you are shipping.
But do you understand how the program arrives at the dimensional weight?
What if you have to calculate the dimensional weight of a package on the fly? Would you know how?
Have no fear, I am going to share the UPS "secret formula" for calculating dimensional weight with you! (Okay, it's not secret, but you wouldn't believe how many shipping professionals aren't exactly sure how to calculate the cost without their trusty computer software.)
    Okay, here goes:
Step 1: Measure the length, width, and height of your package in inches. Round to the closest full inch increment. (Anything under a half inch, round down, anything a half inch or over round up to the next nearest inch. For example, 27.49 inches would round down to 27" and 36.75 would round up to 37".)
    Let's say your parcel measures 27" x 37" x 14".
Step 2: Multiply the dimensions of your parcel to determine the cubic size of your parcel.
    So, using the example above: 27 x 37 x 14 = 13986 cubic inches
Step 3: Choose your UPS carrier service.
For UPS Air (DOMESTIC): Divide the cubic size of your parcel by 166 to determine the dimensional weight of the parcel.
    Using the example above:
    13986 cubic inches / 166 = 84.253 dimensional weight in pounds
Round up to the next whole pound for any fraction of a pound.
Therefore, for UPS Air service, the above package would be 85 dimensional pounds.

Here is a list of favorable sizes:

    INSIDE DIM.
    L x W x H
    8 x 8 x 60"
    10 x 10 x 38"
    10 x 10 x 40"
    14 x 14 x 19"
    14 x 14 x 20"
    15 x 15 x 15"
    16 x 16 x 16"
    17 x 17 x 14"
    18 x 12 x 18"
    18 x 16 x 14"
    18 x 18 x 12"
    20 x 14 x 14"
    20 x 16 x 12"
    20 x 20 x 10"
    21 x 14 x 14"
    22 x 16 x 12"
    22 x 18 x 10"
    22 x 22 x 8"
    24 x 14 x 12"
    24 x 16 x 10"
    24 x 20 x 8"
    24 x 24 x 7"
    26 x 12 x 12"
    26 x 16 x 10"
    28 x 12 x 12"
    28 x 18 x 8"
    28 x 24 x 6"
    30 x 5 x 24"
    30 x 20 x 6"
    36 x 10 x 10"
    36 x 18 x 6"
    36 x 24 x 4"
For UPS Ground (DOMESTIC): If the cubic size of the parcel in inches is more than 5,184, divide the cubic size of your parcel by 166 to determine the dimensional weight of the parcel as above.
If the cubic size in inches is less than 5,184, use the actual weight of the package.
For INTERNATIONAL shipments: For export shipments, divide the cubic size by 139 when measured in inches to determine the dimensional weight. Increase any fraction to the next whole pound. (NOTE: THIS INCLUDES UPS STANDARD TO CANADA where the cubic size is greater than 5184.)

rand new businesses can usually get by on bare-bones equipment and upgrade as needed. A good rule of thumb: if you’re not going to use it tomorrow, don’t buy it–you might not really need it in the future.

    2. “Bargains” that aren’t.

PBuyers like you sometimes fall prey to the allure of a low price...which...many times is too good to be true!! it usually is!!

    3. Impulse buys.
Don’t get talked into a purchase by an overzealous salesperson, or go on a new office furniture spending spree because you’re frustrated with your same old surroundings. Smart business owners only make strategic purchases.

    4. Skimping on research.
You should know a few basics before you start to shop: your price range, your basic requirements, the names of a few vendors, and how long the purchasing process usually takes. Don’t waste your time contacting vendors that only offer services for big companies if you’re a small business. An educated consumer is our best customer!!

    5. Being a know-it-all.

While research is great, getting your heart set on a particular technology or product isn’t always a good idea- you might miss out on an offering that’s better suited for your business. Be open to suggestions, even if you have a fairly firm idea of what you want.

    6. Buying based on price alone.
The cheapest product or service isn’t always the best- or even the cheapest! For example, many payroll services vendors charge a very low per-check fee, but then add charges on for changing employee information or performing mandatory payroll tax deposits. Evaluate all costs to make sure you’re really getting a deal.
    7. Not considering long-run costs.
Many business necessities can be leased or hosted (software, voip phone systems equipment, etc.) instead of purchased. This might cut down on the initial outlay, but will be more expensive overall. For example, many credit card processing companies sell processing terminals for a few hundred dollars, or lease them for $20/month or more- buying is clearly the better bargain in such cases.

    8. Overextending yourself.

Even if a specific purchase is absolutely necessary, it might be out of your current price range. Overextending yourself is never a good idea- try buying a cheaper version that can be upgraded or even traded in as your business grows.
The most successful business owners know that good judgment and common sense can go a long way- Only buy what you need, do your homework, and don’t spend to your limits. Remember, a “good deal” is a purchase you’re satisfied with, no matter how much the actual cost.

8 Mistakes Packaging Buyers Often Make!

SEE THIS LIST OF MISTAKES BUYERS LIKE YOU OFTEN MAKE!!

Here are ways you can be more charismatic!!

Some people instantly make us feel important. Some people instantly make us feel special. Some people light up a room just by walking in.
We can't always define it, but some people have it: They're naturally charismatic.
Unfortunately, natural charisma quickly loses its impact. Familiarity breeds, well, familiarity.
But some people are remarkably charismatic: They build and maintain great relationships, consistently influence (in a good way) the people around them, consistently make people feel better about themselves--they're the kind of people everyone wants to be around...and wants to be.
Fortunately we can, because being remarkably charismatic isn't about our level of success or our presentation skills or how we dress or the image we project--it's about what we do.
Here are the 10 habits of remarkably charismatic people:
    1. They listen way more than they talk.
Ask questions. Maintain eye contact. Smile. Frown. Nod. Respond--not so much verbally, but nonverbally.
That's all it takes to show the other person they're important.
Then when you do speak, don't offer advice unless you're asked. Listening shows you care a lot more than offering advice, because when you offer advice in most cases you make the conversation about you, not them.
Don't believe me? Who is "Here's what I would do..." about: you or the other person?
Only speak when you have something important to say--and always define important as what matters to the other person, not to you.
    2. They don't practice selective hearing.
Some people--I guarantee you know people like this--are incapable of hearing anything said by the people they feel are somehow beneath them.
Sure, you speak to them, but that particular falling tree doesn't make a sound in the forest, because there's no one actually listening.
Remarkably charismatic people listen closely to everyone, and they make all of us, regardless of our position or social status or "level," feel like we have something in common with them.
Because we do: We're all people.
    3. They put their stuff away.
Don't check your phone. Don't glance at your monitor. Don't focus on anything else, even for a moment.
You can never connect with others if you're busy connecting with your stuff, too.
Give the gift of your full attention. That's a gift few people give. That gift alone will make others want to be around you and remember you.
    4. They give before they receive--and often they never receive.
Never think about what you can get. Focus on what you can provide. Giving is the only way to establish a real connection and relationship.
Focus, even in part and even for a moment, on what you can get out of the other person, and you show that the only person who really matters is you.
    5. They don't act self-important…
The only people who are impressed by your stuffy, pretentious, self-important self are other stuffy, pretentious, self-important people.
The rest of us aren't impressed. We're irritated, put off, and uncomfortable.
And we hate when you walk in the room.
    6. …Because they realize other people are more important.
You already know what you know. You know your opinions. You know your perspectives and points of view.
That stuff isn't important, because it's already yours. You can't learn anything from yourself.
But you don't know what other people know, and everyone, no matter who they are, knows things you don't know.
That makes them a lot more important than you--because they're people you can learn from.
    7. They shine the spotlight on others.
No one receives enough praise. No one. Tell people what they did well.
Wait, you say you don't know what they did well?
Shame on you--it's your job to know. It's your job to find out ahead of time.
Not only will people appreciate your praise, they'll appreciate the fact you care enough to pay attention to what they're doing.
Then they'll feel a little more accomplished and a lot more important.
    8. They choose their words.
The words you use impact the attitude of others.
For example, you don't have to go to a meeting; you get to go meet with other people. You don't have to create a presentation for a new client; you get to share cool stuff with other people. You don't have to go to the gym; you get to work out and improve your health and fitness.
You don't have to interview job candidates; you get to select a great person to join your team.
We all want to associate with happy, enthusiastic, fulfilled people. The words you choose can help other people feel better about themselves--and make you feel better about yourself, too.
    9. They don't discuss the failings of others...
Granted, we all like hearing a little gossip. We all like hearing a little dirt.
The problem is, we don't necessarily like--and we definitely don't respect--the people who dish that dirt.
Don't laugh at other people. When you do, the people around you wonder if you sometimes laugh at them.
    10. ...But they readily admit their failings.
Incredibly successful people are often assumed to have charisma simply because they're successful. Their success seems to create a halo effect, almost like a glow.
    Keyword is seem.
You don't have to be incredibly successful to be remarkably charismatic. Scratch the shiny surface, and many successful people have all the charisma of a rock.
But you do have to be incredibly genuine to be remarkably charismatic.
Be humble. Share your screwups. Admit your mistakes. Be the cautionary tale. And laugh at yourself.
While you should never laugh at other people, you should always laugh at yourself.
People won't laugh at you. People will laugh laugh with you.
They'll like you better for it--and they'll want to be around you a lot more.
