Astro-Bubble Renew is available in coex (low-density polyethylene/nylon) and monolayer (linear-low density polyethylene) options with bubble sizes consisting of very small, small, medium, and large. Bubble diameters range from 1/8- to ½-inch. Recycled content is 40% for the coex version and 25% for monolayer.
The product can be used for cushioning, surface protection and void-fill. Its light weight help minimize transport weight which helps lower fuel consumption and carbon emissions throughout the supply chain.

The Instapak® Complete™ system, offers faster, more reliable production of Continuous Foam Tubes (CFTs) with minimal foam usage. The new high-performance foam-in-bag system is designed with today’s source reduction considerations and dimensional weight parcel shipping fees in mind, producing foam tubes with diameters as little as 1 inch, which can allow for material reduction and reduced cube package design. In addition to creating tubes in a wider variety of sizes, the system allows operators to easily and quickly create protective foam packaging with 24 pre-set combinations for creating CFTs and foam-filled bags. The Instapak® Complete™ system includes programmable perforation technology that applies a perf between tubes, so they can easily detach for a perfect fit. “This system offers more consistency and higher performance than any other system of its kind.” To produce protective foam packages, the operator selects one of the 12 foam bag or 12 CFT preset combinations on the Instapak® Complete™ system interface. The system then produces foam cushions using Instapak® 900 series pumping technology with electronic metering and self-diagnostic controls. The resulting CFTs can then be used for cushioning, blocking and bracing or they can be used in conjunction with foam-filled bags for a variety of hybrid pack designs that utilize both CFT and traditional foam cushions.

Pregis Corp. is introducing Stretchfoam™, an “industry first” proprietary polyethylene (PE) resin blend sheet foam with multidirectional stretch for protective packaging applications.

Stretchfoam represents the latest addition to the company’s Microfoam® line. Initial customer feedback reports a 10% yield increase compared to other sheet foams, making Stretchfoam a cost-effective protective packaging solution.

Pregis’ new “soft to the touch” Stretchfoam provides several attributes which benefit a wide variety of wrapping, surface protection or interleaving applications. Stretchfoam has been engineered with multidirectional stretch which resists tearing or “zippering.”  This makes it an ideal protective packaging material to wrap around products with irregular edges such as lighting fixtures, automotive components (wheels, trim, etc.), furniture, window or picture frames, sporting equipment, electronics, hardware, industrial, jewelry, appliances, etc.

Stretchfoam also offers the same high coefficient of friction (COF) long associated with the Microfoam line. This means that the sheet foam clings to the item it is protecting. (Low COF materials slide back and forth increasing the chance that sensitive product finishes will be subjected to abrasion.) No curing agents are used so there is no grease transfer to the part it protects.

“Products typically vibrate and shift during transit.  When they have polished metal surfaces or other sensitive finishes, it becomes even more important that the cushioning material used for protection isn’t the very thing that causes damage. Our new, softer Stretchfoam with its high COF and clean, white appearance delivers both performance and protection,” explained Daché Davidson, director of marketing, Pregis.

Microfoam Stretchfoam’s attributes make it an ideal choice for fulfillment operations, as well as production facilities.  Good compression strength also enables reuse, extending shelf-life to more than one trip. Additionally, lightweight Stretchfoam positively impacts shipping costs and handling ergonomics. 

Pregis also makes it easy for customers to benefit from its excellent cushioning properties by offering readily available 1/16- and 1/32-inch thick stock sizes in 48-, 60- and 72-inch roll widths. Custom options also are available.

Pregis Introduces Form-It™

           

Users can quickly cut the desired length from the roll, peel off the release liner to expose the adhesive and affix into position—typically on the inside of a corrugated container or carton which is used to transport the product.  Form-It foam strips are ideal for blocking and bracing or to create custom dividers, U-channels, L-shapes, pockets, etc.

The ability to customize Form-It allows packers to trim to necessary lengths to protect varied products.  In some instances, spot protection is desirable and in other instances, more substantial usage may be required. The affordable, customization option helps decrease fabrication and design costs.

Form-It™ foam strips are available in three thicknesses (3/8-, 1/2- and 3/4-inches) to meet light, medium and heavy-duty protective packaging requirements.  The 2.3-inch tall material is delivered on 40-, 50- and 55-foot reels (depending on thickness) and offers excellent load bearing, insulation and impact absorption characteristics.  Additionally, rolls take up less inventory space than custom fabrications.
